Sponsorship Information

 

Illinois State University is seeking financial sponsors for its solar-powered car, Mercury I, which will race this summer in the North American Solar Challenge (NASC), a 2,500 mile competition from Austin, Texas, to Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Sponsorship is an excellent opportunity to partner with the university to promote innovative learning, teaching, and research on issues related to a healthy environment, clean energy, and new technology. Different levels of sponsorship with associated benefits are listed below.

Sponsorship Levels

$40,000 or more

Vehicle naming rights. Priority access to solar car for your on-site company activities and events, plus all benefits of Platinum level

Platinum

$20,000 - $39,999

Prime logo placement (large size) on canopy and sides of solar car, chase and lead vehicles, truck/trailer, team clothing, university website. Access to solar car for on-site corporate marketing purposes.

Gold Star

$10,000 - $19,999

Logo placement (large size) on sides of solar car, chase and lead vehicles, truck/trailer, team clothing, university website.

Gold

$5,000 - $9,999

Logo placement (medium) on sides of solar car, chase vehicle, truck/trailer, team clothing, university website.

Silver

$1,000 - $4,999

Logo placement (small) on wheel fairing of solar car, chase vehicle, truck/trailer, team clothing, university website.

Estimated size of decals on solar car:   large-- 7"x10"; medium-- 5"x7"; small-- 4"x5"
Decals on truck/trailer/chase vehicles sized to fit available space and sponsorship level.

Additional benefits may include the following:

  • Mercury I is available on-site, on-line, in print and video for Platinum Plus and Platinum level sponsors.     (The University's photographer will take publicity photos of sponsors with the vehicle for use in University and sponsor-produced publications, Web sites, videos, and other forms of communication.)
  • Mercury I will be available for display and demonstration at events supported by sponsors such as marketing promotions, annual meetings, and company picnics for Platinum Plus and Platinum level sponsors.
  • Mercury I   will be available for display and demonstrations at auto shows, schools, Homecoming parades, football games, county and state fairs, and other public events that will recognize participation of sponsors in the project.

Contributions to the Illinois State University Foundation for support of the solar car project are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.    For purposes of sponsorship recognition, gift-in-kind contributions are treated the same as cash equivalent.   Please contact Dorothy Witte, dmwitte@ilstu.edu or 309/438-3134 for more information.
